Candlewick Kennels

Our training building has been designed for the maximum comfort of both you and your dog. The large, heated and air conditioned, 3,000 square foot building provides an excellent environment for training. Everything from the lighting to the special flooring has been designed with you and your dog in mind.

All dogs must have current immunization for:

• Distemper (DHLPP)
• Rabies
• Bordetella

Since Gina was a little girl she has had a growing passion and interest in the relationship between man and his best friend. She knew at a young age she would have a life time career revolving around assisting dogs and their owners.

She holds a certification both as a Canine Trainer and a Behavior Specialist from the highly regarded Triple Crown Academy School of dog training.

She has worked with many breeds, everything from teacup poodles to mastiffs, from the very friendly and outgoing to those that need some assistance to become part of the family. All of this experience has given her a great understanding and ability to work with any dog.

Understanding the goals of the owner is a primary focus of Gina's. There are those owners that are striving for a high level of advanced obedience, while others just want "Fido" to come when called. While others desire to be able go for a walk through the neighborhood without being dragged from corner to corner. Understanding these goals allows Gina to develop the proper program for her clients.

The areas of dog training that Gina excels in are obedience, problem solving, agility, therapy and competition dogs.

She finds working with a dog and his/her owner to achieve a happier life for both extremely rewarding. She feels passing on her knowledge from years of experience to her clientele is the best gift she can give the canine world.

This course is designed to educate new puppy owners with the knowledge of how to properly raise their puppy. The course addresses answers to many of the commonly misunderstood aspects of raising a puppy. The foundation of a happy, well-behaved and well adjusted dog is greatly based on life experiences as a puppy. Upon completion of this course you will be confident in your knowledge to raise your puppy as a happy and active member of the family.

The Course provides a fun and energetic atmosphere for you and your puppy as you experience the enjoyment of socialization and training. This course is offered as a six week group class. The focus of this class is:

Basic obedience is the foundation of training for you and your dog. You will understand how your dog learns, how to communicate with your dog, and how to reinforce good behavior. You and your dog will learn: Loose leash walk, sit, down, stays, come and place as well as applying what has been learned to practical situations and eliminating undesirable behaviors.

• This course is offered as a 6-Week group class where you and your pet will learn under low level controlled distraction.
• Class size is limited to 8 dogs.

In this course you and your dog will learn to shape the loose leash walk into the heel position and the automatic sit. The exercises learned in basic obedience will be challenged with increased distance, distraction and duration as well as expanding the use of obedience in various practical situations. Your dog will also learn to sit in front of you as a finished behavior to come when called.

• This course is offered as an 6-week Group Class, Private Class and In-Kennel Obedience
• Completion of the Basic Course is required

In this course you and your dog will learn the concepts of off-leash obedience and its use in practical situations. You and your dog will also learn, “finish” (come back to heel position from the sit in front), Sit in motion, Stand in motion, down on recall, and send to “place”.

• This class is offered as a 6-week Group Class, Private Class and In-Kennel Obedience
• Completion of the Basic and Intermediate Courses are required.

This course is for those who have a specific problems(s) that they would like to address with their dog. The source of the problem will be determined and we will work with you and your dog to solve the problem.

The In-Kennel Obedience course is perfectly suited for those with busy schedules. The course provides a three-week stay at Candlewick Kennels, during which time we will train your dog for you. Upon completion of your dog's training you will receive three lessons with the trainer and your dog. At this point your dog will be completely trained, therefore the focus of the lessons will be teaching you what your dog has learned and how to properly communicate with your dog.

Group Lessons are limited in the number of students and are scheduled once a week for an hour.
